You write your current situation on one cup and your desired outcome on another, fill the first with water, pour it into the second while picturing your goal as already done, then drink the water.

Widespread TikTok has active discovery pages for #twocupmethod, #2cupmethod, and related tags including "2 Cup Manifestation Method Results" and "Two Cup Manifesting Method," with individual creator videos surfacing under these hashtags. Leeor Alexandra's YouTube video "Shift Your Reality with the Two Cup Method" (published July 2018) sparked widespread adoption; her channel has 600,000+ subscribers as of 2024. Multiple independent YouTube videos on the topic have been published across dozens of channels, and the technique has been covered by Blavity, Medium's "Change Your Mind Change Your Life" publication (164K followers), and numerous wellness-focused blogs, indicating moderate mainstream reach without mainstream press (Cosmo, Refinery29) coverage.

What it is

The Two Cups Method is a short water ritual used to mark an intentional mental shift from where you are now to where you want to be. You label two cups — one "Current Reality," one "Desired Reality" — fill the first with water, then slowly pour it into the second while holding a clear picture of your goal already achieved. Drinking the water from the Desired Reality cup closes the ritual. The technique is often grouped with "quantum jumping" or "reality shifting" language online, though its practical mechanism is closer to focused visualization with a physical anchor. It gained wide traction after Leeor Alexandra covered it on YouTube in 2018, and it remains one of the most-shared beginner manifestation rituals on TikTok.

How to do it

  1. Get two cups, a pen, and sticky notes or paper labels.
  2. On one label write a short phrase describing your current situation (e.g., 'struggling to pay rent'). Stick it on the first cup.
  3. On a second label write a short phrase describing the outcome you want (e.g., 'financially free, rent paid easily'). Stick it on the second, empty cup.
  4. Fill the first cup (Current Reality) with water.
  5. Hold the first cup, close your eyes, and briefly feel the emotions tied to your current situation — acknowledge them without judgment.
  6. Shift your attention to the second cup (Desired Reality). Open your eyes and slowly pour the water from the first cup into the second, imagining yourself crossing from one reality into the other.
  7. Hold the second cup and spend 1–2 minutes vividly picturing your desired outcome as already real — what it looks, sounds, and feels like.
  8. Drink the water slowly and deliberately, as a physical closing of the ritual.
  9. Discard or recycle the labels. The ritual is complete — do it once per intention rather than repeating daily.

Where it comes from

Origins are murky; no single creator is definitively credited. The technique circulated in Law of Attraction Facebook groups (notably Leeor Alexandra's "Baby Elephant" community) before Leeor Alexandra published a dedicated YouTube video on July 7, 2018, which is widely cited as the moment it broke into mainstream manifestation culture. The "quantum jumping" framing was layered onto it by later commentators drawing loosely on the many-worlds interpretation of quantum physics.
